My dad uses an REI Lookout. It's a little over 2000 cubes and has a big U shaped zip so you can basically unzip and flip off the back panel. He likes it a lot. I'm a fan of Osprey packs though. How much gear are you planning on taking? It makes a big difference if you're just doing some dayhiking or if you're bringing a tent and sleeping bag and whatnot. How much camping/outdoor time are you planning on?
