How is this jacket different from North Face Carmel Jacket? I'm also looking at Mont Bell. Which do you recommend? Live in Oklahoma where is can get to 20-30's at times.

This jacket has a narrower quilting pattern than the Carmel. The narrower spaces between the stitching gives a less bulky look. The chevron-shaped angle of the quilt stitching is very flattering look also rather than just plain, straight horizontal quilt stitching all the way around. I own this jacket from 2009, and have given one to each of my sons (actually the men's Patagonia Down Sweater--but same "concept" of light weight down with narrow quilting channels) and one daughter in law & 2 sons' girlfriends over the past 2 years (2 of them this Christmas for a total of 6 Thunder jackets since 2009). We all LOVE the jacket fit and warmth and wear it daily throughout the fall & winter season in Michigan and Denver. Almost weightless, yet cozy warm. Don't hesitate to make this purchase!
