how is the windproofing on it? I live in north Dakota, and we have subzero temps with 20+ mph winds regularly, so I need windproofing.

I have taken this jacket up in the white mountains on bald ridge lines. Yes, it blocks the wind quite well. I do however have multiple layers of fleece and wool underneath the jacket.

north dakota is cold and windy, but we have colder temps and wind in the wasatch mountains. it is completely windproof. it is not however not insulated. you may want to look at the stoic bombshell insulated for something warmer, it depends on what you are doing while wearing the jacket, how aerobic activity is, this makes a big difference.
