Just bought the Core All Black (awesome watch) and after starting it up the low battery indicator came on...figured no big deal as it may have been sitting in stock for a bit. I replaced the battery with a fresh one from a local store and after installing it the low bat indicator was not there, but once I got thru updating the time the low bat indicator came back on. Anyone had this issue or know of any solutions as updating the time surely couldn't have drained it that much?

Ive had my core for about 4 years. I have to change the battery every 5-6 months or so. I just by them in bulk from one of any number of different online "battery stores." You can find them for under a buck each. Just change it yourself. Takes about 30 seconds. Well worth it, love my core.

That serial puts it manufactured the 44th week of 2010, or the first week of November, I believe. To be positive, lets check the software version. Do you know how to check the version? If not, follow these instructions, starting from the time/date display on the Core. To see the versions, you need to enter the 'service-menu' the same way you do, when you need to change the contrast: 1. Press and hold the upper left, lower left, upper right and lower right buttons until 'SUUNTO' appears on the display. 2. When the display is blank press the upper left button once - 'SUUNTO' will appear on the screen 3. While 'SUUNTO' is still displayed press and hold the upper left button. From there you will see a menu similar to the regular menu, with 'versions' at the top. It might take a few tries to get there, it's a pain to hold all those four buttons. When you select versions, list software 1.x.x and your serial, and then HW 3.x You want software with a number greater than 1.1.0, and hardware greater than 3.x I believe.

The first three serial #'s are 044...I had heard about the past software issues, but was hoping that a purchase in late 2010 wouldn't encounter that issue. Thanks for the input!

Two possibilities, Chad. Can you tell me the first three digits of your Core's Serial? Core's prior to March of 2009 occasionally had watches with battery and software glitches. By March of 2009, they ironed out all of the common issues. Some retailers have had them sitting on the shelves for a -long- time and some of this stock gets sold occasionally. Additionally, with CR 2032s its not uncommon to get a couple of bad ones. I buy 10 or 12 at a time from Battery Junction, and keep one in my wallet just in case.
