Anyone know how thick and large the hood is. I love the Paty R1 but the hood is too thick to be really comfortable with a helmet. Hope this one is thinner

definitely a more snug fit than the R1 hood, but the zipper in front of the mouth leaves a little more room, which i find to be helpful.

Like torky said below, it's a close fit. I'm not familiar with the Patagonia R1, but this hood is tight. Think along the lines of a balaclava.
