I bought a couple of these shirts (November 2010) and when wet, they smell like a wet dog (sheep presumably), not a hint of smell when dry, this definitely doesn't happen to my i/o, icebreaker or smartwool stuff, did I get a bad batch or will the smell go away after a couple of washes?

Hmm, all of my merino smells a little when wet, including my IB, Ibex and I/O. It's something that I'm used to at this point and not worried about it when it happens, though I do have to be careful when I'm going to sweat a lot to dry off before I visit with the ladies. :)

My one Icebreaker t-shirt smells pretty funky after it comes out of the washing machine, so I accepted this as a foregone conclusion with all wool shirts. I just bought two of these and haven't washed them yet, but I'm expecting the same experience as you had with them.

Hmm, wool in general smells pretty funky when wet. I kind of ignore it because it's warm. I have an Icebreaker Chase Crew and a BC Merino Shirt and they both can smell pretty ripe when they get wet.

Mine never smell, and I live in a rain forest - Humboldt county where it rains 6 - 8 months out of the year.
