I'm looking for some snow boots for some serious backcountry snowshoeing, I'm concerned that on longer trips snow may collect in the faux fur, get melted by body heat and wicker moisture in to the boot -- I find on powder days I always manage to get some snow between the cuff and sleeve of my snow pants. Has anyone had this sort of problem?

Yes ... many are not aware that urine is a tool ... not a waste product. If your faux fur freezes up, simply pee on it and keep walking. Hope this helps! Actually, to be somewhat helpful what i recommend is the North Face Snow Sneaker III. It has ridges for you snowshoes and is waterproof and insulated. This shoe combined with gaiters gives you great freedom of movement and will keep it lightweight. D-ring near toebox helps secure gaiters; discreet ledge at back of heel helps keep snowshoe heel straps in place

A good pair of gaiters should eliminate that problem! Right over the boot and up to about your knee or mid shin depending on lower leg length, and you're covered. Some (most?) have an elastic band that snugs around the sole of the boot to hold the bottom of the gaiter in place.
