I have been wearing the (Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra GTX Trail Running Shoe - Men's) for a few weeks. I like almost everything about them, with one exception: I cannot tighten the laces enough on the lower portion of my foot.

First, I am using the same medium weight socks I always have. However, my foot is moderately narrow ("C"); so, an ability to tighten up and down the lacing is necessary. It seems that with this system of "pull and snug", the top gets tight and the rest stays a bit too loose. Any suggestions?

With this type of lacing system, It's really not possible to direct pressure to a particular part of the foot. The design is to evenly distribute pressure from the laces, but it does feel tighter on the top of the foot. It maybe that this shoe is designed with a high arch support and perhaps you need something with less arch support? Going from normal lacing shoes, this actually took me some time to get used to because I was worried that there would be too much movement in the forefoot to a point that it would cause blisters, but it really didn't. I would just try running in them for awhile and see if you get adjusted to the feeling of them. If you still don't like them, unfortunately it seems every Salomon trail running shoe has this lacing system.
