I have 3 other medium sized Patagonia jackets which fit fine but this one is slightly tight in the arm pits with a thin shirt on but otherwise ok, If I go to a large will it be too big. I am 5'9" and 160lbs.

Hey there, sorry about the sizing confusion, and the pits being too tight in the medium. I think a large would be fine for you, just a little looser, and a touch long in the arms, but with resort skiing jacket like this, those are things that most seem to not mind. Hopefully that helps, and hope you're able to find a Primo Down that fits well.
