How are the Cohesion at keeping out rain, snow, dirt around the ankles? I am looking at these pants and the Mountain Hardwear Epic Pants. The Epics have elastic around the ankle, these don't. I would be using these as year round pants - rain pants and winter hiking/snowshoeing.

The Cohesion Pants don't have elastic around the ankles but they do have a velcro tab that allows you to tighten or loosen the pants around the ankle. Your choice. These pants will work well as an 'all around pant' especially if you couple them with a gaiter when snowshoeing in really deep snow. Check out the Mountain Hardwear Nut Shell High Gaiters for an inexpensive gaiter that would work well with these pants. I hope this info helps!
