Hi,
Are these a decent resort/short distance skiing pants? I have the gamma SK which are great for snowshoeing/XC skiing but a bit cold in the chairlift (yeah my bum!), thus looking for insulated one.

Your bum will almost always freece in the lifts, because you will compress the loft in your pant when sitting on it - however, primaloft handles this better than down. A sitting mat would be your best option.

The Kappa AR would be an OK skiing pants (it's really designed as a belay/camp pant), but the best insulated ski pants are the Arc'teryx Titan, because they have reinforced instep, more durable fabric, and are totally water proof, as well as windproof. If you want a bit more warmth and protection than the Gamma SK, but not a fully insulated version, check the Sabre SV (love these) pant or Stingray pant from Arc'teryx.
