I keep my 15.4" Wide-Screen notebook in there with an extended battery. I would say that is pretty close to the max size. I don't think you'll fit a 17"

Hey George I have a HP Probook and the dimensions are about 14 3/4" X 9 3/4" X 1 1/4" and it fits this packs hydration pocket/sleeve on the inside of the backpanel pretty well. There is a little extra space but not much. If you didn't put it in this pocket/sleeve you could probably fit an even longer computer and a little wider. Putting it in the sleeve is nice though because it keeps your computer off the ground when you set your pack down. See the pic for a look at how it fits.
