I assume this is replacing the Scorpion/Scarab jacket - is the cut the same or is it baggier this year? 5'9" 160lbs... probably a mtn hardwear compressor mid-layer... size small or medium? Thanks.

Safe to say it replaces those. Expect the same Freeride fit of the Scarab. Not exactly sure if it's bigger, Arc'teryx says: 'Designed with our most relaxed fit, the Sabre SV Jacket features progressive styling for on-area riding and skiing. Built with a lightly insulated GORE-TEX® Soft Shell material, this supple jacket is wind and waterproof and has articulated patterning for athletic mobility. Large cuffs fit over or under gloves, a generous Storm Hood™ covers helmets and allows easy layering with hoodies.". I would still go with medium given your layering and build.
