I was thinking of ordering this or the Hoody... which would you all recommend? I know the hood would be useful in colder weather, however, I am fearful it will just get in the way when I don't need it. Any thoughts?

If you are in need of a insulated layer that can be worn both under a shell and regularly then I would go without the hood. I just hate wearing two hooded jackets at the same time. I have the non hooded version and it works great as an extra layer for those cold days but it can also be great just on it's own. Just depends on how you plan to use it.

Go for the hood man. It can be a bit of hassle when layering - that much is admitted. However, it certainly is clutch when its cold!
