Hey Hinda, The materials on the boot have been treated, to offer some water resistence but they are not water-proof, like a Gore-tex material. The boots are fairly high cut and should come up to about mid calf on most ladies. Keen makes great products as well, but I think you'll be happier with these boots as they provide great warmth, great traction and are far more asthetically pleasing.
