If you want to get technical, the midweight material is 250 g/m2, the lightweight is 195 g/m2, and the microweight is 150 g/m2. This means that the same size lightweight leggings would be 30% heavier than the microweight leggings.

The microweight are good as a warm or cool weather base layer. Not very thick fabric but they breath and handle moisture great. The lightweight is what i wear for snowboarding. Not quite midweight but definately more than the micro. If you want something versatile for winter i'd go with the lightweight. But you can't go wrong either way as far as quality and comfort goes.
