I am looking for a super warm coat that will withstand the bone chilling cold winds of James Bay. James Bay is way up north on Ontario, Canada. The temperature dips below -40C on a mild winter day. Would the advertised coats withstand those temperatures?

Hi, i've only passed by Moosonee, Ontario once and it wasn't in the winter, though. But i've heard of record lows of -45 C winters there. i'm a great fan of North Face, but at this point i'd like to recommend you looking into the brands Canada Goose and/or 66°North (not carried by Backcountry though it used to be). Canada Goose makes full loft duck-down jackets, thigh length so u stay comfy in near-Arctic conditions. 66°North is an Icelandic-based company so u can also find mid-layers (with built-in face-mask-type hoods). The US website is an online store too : http://www.66north.com/us/shop/c-20-women.aspx good luck!
