Without taking wind resistance into consideration, would this be as warm as The North Face Khumbu? Also is there a flap behind the zipper?

John, The R3 would definitely be as warm as the Khumbu, and most likely warmer. The face fabric on the R3 is a tight weave that increases warmth, and it's a much nicer fleece overall.
