Hey I have heard that these skis edges rip out pretty easily and I was wondering if salomon made these edges more durable? I was also wondering on how this ski compares to the ar7?

I'm with you Jeffrey!! I had a pair of 2010 Suspects for the entire season and surprisingly compared every other pair of my mates skis the Suspects' base was by far the strongest and the edges held up for 80+ days on the hill and they were tuned regularly. I was a bit worried buying this ski because of what I heard on the net about the edges ripping out etc but I had no problem with mine except for the fragile glossy top sheet. After a few scratches though you'll get over it. The Salomon Suspects are the dopest ski I've ever had by a mile. Hope my input helps.

To the answer below me. Salomon does have a great warrantee, but not for anything edge related. The edge armor actually caused my broken edges to pull the base away from the core after about 30 days of skiing. I did love these skis before this incident, and hopefully salomon has fixed the issue, but suspects ended up being a $400 urban ski because of this problem.

Hey Jeffrey, To answer your question fairly... Can the edges rip out, yes. Do they happen often, no. As skiing has evolved, we're starting to hammer our gear way more than in the past. With that being said, it has become harder to create a ski that can withstand impact with rails. With that being said, expectations of products still remain high without the realistic understanding of what is truly happening. Salomon still makes a rad product and a solid warranty, with, in general, an edge ripping out should be covered under warranty. Hope this helps dood
