These look great, but I do a lot of high temp summer hiking. I assume these are hot due to the gore-tex, is that right? (Is there a mid-height trail running shoe with more of a breathable mesh construction?

i've been an avid trail runner for many years and am yet to see a mid height running shoe -it's a bit of an oxymoron. you can find some really well vented shoes for summer hiking though. check out the merrill moab ventilator (in two heights) as well as the montrail line of shoes. cheers.

Hey Paul, You are 100%, you're feet will definitely get hot in any gore-tex shoe. I really notice my foot temperature when I stand in direct sunlight but don't notice it when I'm moving. As of now, Salomon does not have a mid-trail running shoe in non-gore-tex
