I would have to agree with the other answers here. I have tried using a Brunton Firestorm (also a piezo ignition) multiple times over 10,000 feet with temperatures varying between 20 and 70 degress with no luck at all. Stick with the Bic for a lighter at altitude.

I kinda want one, because I'm a gear nut, but worth and value all depend on the person using it. I usually bring a couple of disposable lighters on my trips and then take precautions to keep them dry. They have always preformed when I needed them to. With that being said I am a big fan of the piezo ignition used by brunton. I have a brunton raptor stove that has a piezo ignition and I have never had an issue with it lighting with numerous base camps set up well over 10,000 ft. It only takes one time of this lighter saving your butt for it to become worth the 50 dollars. I've been lucky or otherwise prepared in my experiences, but this piece of gear sure wouldn't hurt.

In my opinion, save your money & buy a Bic or some other $1 disposable. Unfortunately these $$$ lighters have problems @ higher elevations. Read my other answer below.
