How may this jacket rate in a subtropical climate such as Hawaii where a deluge of rain could drop down any time of the year (bear in mind it can be moderate to insanely humid too)?

this jacket is specifically designed for rain storms, however none of the water resistant jackets breath well in extremely humid climates (or at all for that matter). your best bet would be to find a rain shell that has pit zips like this one, or perhaps the NF venture.
