I have used the Kayadyn cartridge for 1 week out of the U.S....

I have used the Kayadyn cartridge for 1 week out of the U.S. and the bottle has been sitting for a year (I cleaned...can't remember how)...Should I buy another filter or is the orig. filter still ok to use. My concern is for the critters that have been hanging out in the filter for a year.

You should be just fine by pumping a liter or two of clean water through the idle cartridge. If you still have concerns, pump a 32 to 1, water to bleach, solution through it. Lastly follow this up by pumping/rinsing a liter or two of clean water through the rejuvenated cartridge. This will eliminate any need to purchase a new one.
