They say waterproof -but I'm skeptical. I've bought so many so called "Gore Tex" membrane "waterproof" shoes and boots, only to have the rain soak through them hour 6 into my 12 hour workday. Can anything with upfacing seams and only a puny gore-tex membrane truly be waterproof? I'd like it to be true, as I really need comfortable shoes not rubber boots. -Soaked feet in Portland Oregon

Well it wouldn't be sweat I'm having, since my feet are nice and dry while working for 12+ hour days on end, but then when the rain starts, that's when my feet get wet. It's definitely not water entering the top, the toe or instep area are usually the first to get wet. I'm doing movie grip and lighting work. I think it's very hard on shoes and boots because we do a lot of kneeling, lifting, pushing, twisting, climbing on stuff, etc.. Plus, I think there is something about Portland OR, the rain here just seems to soak in more -I'm only half joking.

I'd look at shoes using the eVent liner--breathes much better than Gore-Tex. Perhaps sweaty feet is really what you're feeling instead of rain soaking in. Regardless, are you ensuring water isn't entering over the top of your boot? How high is the gusset on these boots? What type of work are you doing in these?
