Hi Chris, the nylon on this jacket has a durable water repellent (DWR) finish. This means it will repel water for short amount of time. However with no laminate or coating on the inside of the nylon as well as no taped seams it is not going to withstand very much precip for very long.

no i dont think so because its made out of nylon and nylon isnt very water resisten, and it dosent say that its coated with anythng. and i think that you would want somthuing that is very breathable and much more . so i would go with a soft shell
