It's going be up to the gate agent, and how much stuff you have strapped on this bad boy. The lid has elastic straps in it, so you can really load up the top. This is not a very big bag, about the size of a 26" rollaboard. My guess is that you could get it on, or at the very least gate check it. The challenge will be getting the big external frame through security.
