Is there a way to easily clean the inside of the bite part? Q-tips are helpful but there must be an easier way.

Pull it off, flip up the stem and soak the cap and bite valve in a pot of water with a couple tablespoons of regular bleach overnight. Rinse it off well and let it dry. No more scunge, disinfected, and the chlorine won't hurt you one bit. Every couple months or so, take a shower with it, and blast it out.
