Does this bag offer torso adjustment? the side-bar says it does, but I seem to recall that this older generation doesn't?

Yeah, it uses a big velcro sheet that allows you to slide the shoulder harness up or down. I believe the system is now the standard for all their new packs. TNF's site has a so-so view of it for you to look at.
