i climb towers for a living and a while back i switched from lineman boots to approach shoes. la sportiva shoes are comfy on the iron due to their super-rigid sole but tend to fall apart much faster than other less comfortable shoes. how rigid is the quest sole?

Jared, These are pretty still I would say similar to your Lasportivas . They have a board last and stiff EVA midsole. They do have Vibram sticky rubber and they can also be resoled . They are built on a rock shoe last so they tend to be a bit narrow for precision.

What La Sportiva shoe are you comparing these to? I'd consider most approach shoes to be pretty soft, especially compared to a mountaineering style lineman boot.
