is this shoe sized small? For example, I need a 9.5mens and if I were buying Nike, I would have to buy a 10 because Nike sizes their shoes on the small side.

North Face generally runs true to size... I have a lot of North Face boots and they've been true to size. I think you'd be fine in my opinion...
