Is this a stand-alone ski rack (don't need an existing roof rack)?
Will it fit on an '05 Prius?

This isn't a stand-alone rack. It requires a base rack system because it attaches to crossbars. You can see the recommended crossbars under Tech Specs/Compatibility.
