stephen, I have the ND version of this pack, and my 1.5 L hydration bladder fits in no problem. I generally carry a bottle as well if I need to carry more water than that at a time, but I usually have pretty regular water sources on my hikes. The sleeve would comfortably fit a 2 L bladder. 3L might be a tight fit.
