It wouldn't be very efficient on an alcohol stove, as it has no lid. The metal will be totally fine as a cooking surface though. You'll also have to get a pot grip, which might be kind of a pain.

2.5 US cups = 20 US fluid ounces, and do you mean like a pop-can stove burning denatured alcohol?
