I'm curious, Is it advisable to purify 3 liters at one time in the same container, with three tablets, of course? Do people do this?

Yep, I typically treat 2 L of water at a time as I am heading off to bed. That way in the morning it is all ready for me!

I treat 3 liters in camp in a platypus reservoir all of the time. Never had any issues and I've been doing it a long time.

No problem. Just give your container a shake once the tabs are dissolved. If you fill and then hike it will agitate sufficiently.

I think this is ok as long as you allow for the proper dwell time (20-30 minutes for giardia and 4 hours for crypto). I would also recommend stirring the water to allow the chemical to effect all of the water in the container. Also don't forget to treat the container itself, meaning the threads and the lid (if applicable). You only need a few bugs to make you sick...
