In Vail last winter my buddy had one of these, and it was a lifesaver after traversing mile after mile to get to the backcountry. We were pretty far away from any water source, so having a few sips on the go was key. And it's small enough that you couldn't even notice it on my buddy's back. Also small enough that he started hoarding his water after a while, but hey. He had the insulating tube, too.

i have a camelbak pack back made for winter. it still freezes in really cold conditions. my buddy suggested the obvoius... blow the water in the tube back to the reservoir. that worked! why didn;t i think of that???

I used a different camelbak on a winter hike and the tube completely frozen... I agree that you have to find a good way to insulate the tube because otherwise you will be carrying dead weight and be thirsty

My little brother uses it for skiing. Just insulate the tube.
