A bath-tub floor is one in which the seams between the walls of the tent body and the floor are a few inches off the ground. This helps with preventing water from entering the tent were wind to drive the rain sideways or from other sources. Also, in some cases, it allows the fly to be higher off the ground and thus give more ventilation.
