My wife is 5'2, would this be a good bag for her? Also will it compress down pretty small with a compression sack (little larger than a football)?

Hey Mike - This would be a fine bag for general summer use. The type of synthetic insulation that is used in this bag isn't going to make this one of the most compressible bags that The North Face makes. Here are a couple of options that you might consider that are womens specific, warmer, and more compressible due to either using down insulation or a more compressible type of synthetic insulation. The women's specific shape is also shorter which will be a big benefit to someone that is 5'2. -The North Face Women's Cat's Meow -The North Face Women's Blue Kazoo Hope this helps-
