Hi - The bag is not waterproof - although it is highly water resistant. The pack material itself is a coated nylon, which is waterproof, but the seams are not sealed - so eventually you will get some moisture coming through in heavy rain. However, you shouldn't be worried about things getting wet unless you are out for a prolonged period in really bad weather. There are also rain covers available that can give you extra protection for laptops etc. Hope this helps-
