Hi all, it seems that this coat is warm, North Face looks like a good brand, my only thing is how heavy is this coat? I want to be warm without feeling like I am carrying 10 extra pounds of coat weight! Its a down coat so I thought it would be light yet warm but now I'm not so sure. Thoughts?

Oops, I goofed, I looked at so many it's hard to remember, I was thinking of the Transit, which I bought elsewhere but returned. I was interested in the Metropolis also, the length is good for shorter folks and tell women. Since I'm short this is just a huges problems for me. Ultimately after weighing all my choices, I went with the Arctic. Only differences I could see is the length in the Metroplis is 5 inches longer. The Metropolist fill power is 600, while the Arctic is 550 (75%)minimum down insulation. The arctic ihas seem sealed seams, not sure about the Metropolis. Hope this helps

Hello - If you are looking for something warm, and a little lighter than the Arctic (it is not the lightest jacket out there...) I would look at The North Face Metropolis Jacket. It is the same length as the Arctic and also down insulated. The only thing that you would be giving up would be a waterproof shell. The Metropolis has a DWR treatment, so it will still be good outdoors, but it is not totally waterproof like the Arctic. At least something to consider....
