Can i get away with wearing just a base layer with these pants or is the insulation of the pants not that good?

kate, You should be ok with a baselayer in these pants, though that will depend some on how warm of a person you are, how cold out it is, what kind of activity you're doing, and how heavy your baselayer is. In general though, a baselayer should be fine. Andrea
