Yes, an average 11 yeard old would do just fine in one of these. I've seen 7 year olds do okay in similar sized kayaks.

He's not going break any speed records, but an 11yo boy should have no problem paddling this boat. It's short enough that he shouldn't have to strain too much to turn the boat and control will come with practice.
