The detachable daypack is a small backpack similar to a basic camelback with room for a bladder and a few things.

The detachable pack is usually an overglorified fanny pack in these sorts of configurations. Sure it could work as a day pack, but I'd personally take an extra Camelbak full of water with me that will serve as water storage + a flexible day pack option. It might be a little bulkier, but it's worth it to me.
