Kuro vs. Gotama.... (and maybe Blizzard Answer...)???

I've demoed the Answer and the Gotama, but no one has the Kuro to demo. Liked both skis, but the Gotama seemed to have a but more rocker, maybe a little more sidecut, and skied, well, like a Volkl. Awesome.

I was blown away at how a fat rockered ski could rip up everything on the mountain including groomers (I usually ski Volkl Racetiger GS, or go tele).

Do you think the Kuro skis like the Gotama, only more so? I'm in Park City for the winter, will do a little backcountry, but most days will be on the mountain, and bumps and groomers will be unavoidable. If the Kuro is really out of it's element unless there's a foot of powder that could be a problem - as much as I dig the graphics.

Thanks!

I disagree. If you are only rocking one pair of skis, I'd get the Gotamas. I have a pair of Kuros and Mantras and I usually get in +80 days a season here in Breckenridge. I only take my Kuros out on a big powder day. They are so wide that it is real easy to pick up a gouge, so save them for those days with plenty of cover. The Gotamas are fatter than my Mantras, so if this is your only set of sticks, stick to those. I've taken the Mantras out on some serious powder days and they have done just fine. Notable days include 92 inches of powder at Silverton 12-6-07, and 53 inches of powder at wolf creek 12-09. Plenty of +30 inch days and like I said, still did great. I'd really recommend getting something for all mountain/powder first, then getting an additional set of pow sticks when you can.

I wouldn't recommend the Kuro as anyone's only all mountain ski - great in deep snow or deep crud but in my opinion it IS out of it's element with less than a foot or so on the ground.

Lars, Ive been on the kuros for almost two years now, 185 last year and 195 this year. I was also amazed at well it skis all over, and I use it everyday now. I would say go for it, its stiff compared to other rockered skis, although I'm sure it is softer than the gotama, (never tried that one) and I think that that is why it does well on groomers. I use to think it wasn't good in bumps, but just today I was some pretty big bumps and had a blast. I really can't say enough good things about these boards. Get em and prepare for the comments on the chairlift.
