Have a pair i use for snowshoeing in New Hampshire Whites. water resistant is applicable. I have not found them to be water proof. Also took about 20 miles of aggressive dry hiking to break them in to wear.

They can be very water resistant with the addition of Nixwax and will breathe a great deal better than a Gortex boot.

Any leather boot (that doesn't have holes in it) can be waterproofed with Nikwax or a similar product.

No - dry-fast refers to the inner wicking material. Unless it has a gore-tex lining, it isn't waterproof. This boot is probably best described as highly-water resistant.
