This is a very personal & subjective question. I use my 20 degree WM UltraLite in all but the winter months in Colorado. Since it is 850 fill goose down, a good tent takes care of the weather part of your question. This bag might, however, be too lightweight if you're using it primarily in Alaska. In this case a 10 degree bag might be better suited. If you're using your bag for summer desert camping, a 40+ degree bag would work best. The primary use location would dictate the temperature range for me. If you're doing a lot of rain forest camping or camping in high humidity areas, you might want to consider a synthetic fill bag. There are too many considerations/factors involved to dial in on one "do all" sleeping bag.
