Hi, I'm considering buying these ski to use for backcountry day hikes on powder/crud/Crust and resort bowls - does anybody have experience on using them for these options? I'd be using them with Diamir Freeride bindings? Many Thanks!!

I have used the Waybacks for a season now and find them to be light AND responsive. I have them paired with a set of Marker Dukes for the extra DIN settings and Garmont Adrenilin boots. The markers are heavier than say Dynafit, Diamir/Fritschi or Silvretta, but not overly noticable. These are a great "all-around" ski for groomers or backcountry POW. As far as skins go I bought a set of Black Diamond 130mm skins and trimmed them to fit. Bottom line....... Don't hesitate to buy these skis, I'd give them a 8.5/9.0 out of 10

The beauty of this ski is to pair it with light bindings like a dynafit and go far and fast, not with a free ride. Don't be fooled, 125mm at the tip gives you a bit of float in all but the deepest days. Bigger under the waist means more weight to carry. Don't get me wrong, I have skis that are 108, 96 and 88 underfoot...its all about the quiver!

Pretty skinny (relatively speaking) ski for BC and powder use. Try something with a waist closer to 100mm. I've never had much success skiing powder on anything less than 90mm at the waist. You're looking for a one ski quiver, and while the WayBack would be a decent choice for most all-mountain use, you WILL suffer when the snow is deep. I'd suggest finding a powder ski in addition to the WayBack, if that's what you choose. There's lots of other options out there, and it may be a good idea to demo a few pairs. At least go to the shop with a knowledgeable buddy to check out some sticks. If it's a good ski shop, they should be able to help you narrow down your options. Don't tell them you're ready to buy something. At least, not until you've checked out the reviews on backcountry.com.
