ok so i'm 23 yrs old looking to purchase a new pair of twins. I currently ride on volkl's but looking to switch to armada cause they are some bad mo fo's... I'm 6'4" 185 lb's and i spend about 80 percent of my time adventuring around backcountry, dipping under closed boundary lines, 10 percent in the park, and the other 10 having to cruise around with the fam on random days... I have been looking into either the 2010 armada jj's or the ARV's. I dont really know much about either of the skis or the new technology that was put into the 2010's... hopefully you guys can enlighten me and help me choose my next ski, thanks
S
p.s. regardless of which ski i get should i stay around a 175ish or go to around a 185? thanks again

Cmelo15, I picked up a pair of the JJs for this season here in Salt Lake City. I've used them five times this season in varies conditions. I expected the JJs to perform well in powder, which they did in about 7" of fresh at Vail over the weekend. I was very surprised to feel how well the performed on the groomers and even in some icy spots at Copper Mtn. I liked the feel of the JJs much better than my Salomon 1080 guns. They didn't do as well as my old all mountain Volk's (724 EXPs) but I wasn't expecting them too and still wouldn't considering pulling them out on a strict groomer day. They are also comparatively light for a big ski, making them easy to hike through the gates with. I'm 6' 180lbs and ski the 185s. Like JT said, go with the 185s no questions asked. The JJs ski shorter on groomers because of the rocker tip and tail. Hope this gives you some insight.

Without question go with the 185 cm in either the ARVs or the JJs. I have both skis and love them both. I use the ARVs in normal conditions when there isn't new snow, or I know I am going to be skiing mostly on groomed and moguls. The JJs I pull out when there is powder, even 10 or 12 inches. At 6'4" you do not want a ski shorter than the 185 cm in either ski. The JJs ski much shorter than 185 because of the rocker at both ends. This make the "effective length" of the ski much shorter. The 185 cm ARV is sweet. I have the ARVs mounted +2 cm from boot center. The JJs I have mounted at the Armada recommended boot center because I don't ride switch.
