I am looking at picking this up as a layering piece to zip-in to my shell as my fleeces make it a pain to slip in and out of a combined jacket. I tried on a M and a L. I like the fit of a L in this jacket but my shell is a M, does anyone know if I should be able to zip these two together or does the length very and kill my idea.

Patrick, If you have a medium North face shell then purchase a medium North Face Redpoint jacket. The Redpoint jacket is not a tight fitting jacket. It gives you plenty of room to move around in
