Is this really worth 5x the price of the NRS pump (http://www.backcountry.com/store/NRS0042/NRS-Super-6-Wonder-Pump.html)? I mean even if I bust the NRS, I can buy 4 more and still be more cost effective.

yes it is worth it - a good barrel pump will a) not break b) cut the time it takes to inflate the raft or kayak in 1/2 and c) get the boat harder - the NRS pump will not have enough power to put enough pressure in the boat (kayak or raft) to make it perform properly.

The Aire 4 inch Barrel Pump is a great pump but is designed for inflating larger vessels such as full on river rafts. If you are just inflating a small kayak (such as http://www.backcountry.com/store/ARE0003/Aire-Lynx-I-Inflatable-Kayak.html) I would suggest something smaller (and cheaper) like:http://www.backcountry.com/store/NRS0043/NRS-Bravo-2-Foot-Pump.html?RSC_ID=WR_NRS0043
