Wondering if this jacket would be good for winter bike commuting? Seems plenty warm, but I wear a backpack every day and I'm worried about the straps wearing through the material around the shoulders and armpits. Does the material seem pretty sturdy there? Don't want to be leaving feathers all over NYC ...

The Down Sweater would be great for winter bike commuting. I wear a heavy pack a lot with mine and have no problems with durability.

Down is great for warmth but the outer fabric is not tuff if you buzz across something , Get a shell and a fleece for under it. Shells never die!
